IP address, Push topology and Troubleshooting
6 - Finalizing On-Site Configuration
7 - Troubleshooting Offline Assets After Topology Push
After pushing the topology to your Smartmaster device, you may notice that some
assets are still not live. This typically indicates an issue with configuration. Follow the steps below to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
7-1. Check Configuration Settings
Review the configuration details of both the asset and its assigned Communication Unit.
Make sure the IP address is correct and properly assigned.
Double-check the TCP port: while templates often default to port 502 , some devices may use a different port.
7-2. Use the IP Scan Tool
Navigate to the IP Scan page in the left-hand menu.
Click Refresh to rescan the network.
Devices with a closed Modbus port will be marked with a cross ( ✖ ). This means they are not reachable via that port.
7-3. Verify Device-Level Configuration
If everything appears correct on the web portal, check the configuration on the actual device:
Modbus devices may require Modbus communication to be manually enabled. OCPP chargers must be correctly configured with the Smartmaster’s backend URL.
Troubleshooting Offline Assets After Topology Push, Some assets require remote access or EMS control to be explicitly enabled during setup.
7-4. Important Note About IP Scan
The IP scan tool checks only port 502 by default. If your asset uses a different communication port, it won’t show as reachable in the scan.
By carefully verifying these steps, you can ensure all assets are properly connected and operational.
